Economic Development Plan in Wood County

Over the last year and a half, Community Development Educator, Nancy Turyk, worked with Wood County staff and supervisors along with numerous county organizations and individuals to develop Wood County’s first-ever Economic Development Plan.

After unanimous approval by the Wood County Board in early April, the Economic Development Plan will now act as a guiding document for the county with clear economic development priorities to be executed over the next five years. The collaborative process used during the development of the plan has facilitated connections and coordination among key individuals and organizations within the county. These connections will undoubtedly help efforts to grow the regional economy and strengthen the quality of place in Central Wisconsin.

This effort is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development and supported by Purdue University’s Center for Regional Development & Extension Community Development. and economic development specialists at the UW-Madison Division of Extension.
