February 2022 — As part of “Black History Month 2022: Why does Black History Matter to Extension’s work?” by the African American Black Employee Resource Group (AABERG), members of the the Entrepreneurs of Color Business Support Team, co-hosted a series incorporating Black History into Extension programming, sharing stories, research and vibrant discussion. The Entrepreneurs of Color Business Support team was formed in 2019 with the mission of supporting wealth creation through entrepreneurship within communities of color. They focus on expanding knowledge of BIPOC business ownership, developing educational programs, and working with communities, organizations, and individuals with a shared mission.
In part 2 of the series, Tessa Conroy, Community Economic Development Specialist and Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison discusses statewide trends in businesses owned by people of color including the impacts of COVID-19.
This webinar was moderated by Rajon Hall, entrepreneur and graduate student in social work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Rajon has worked extensively with Extension over the last 3 years on qualitative research, and latest launched the podcast In Our Words: Black Entrepreneurs Speak Wisconsin.
